XENIA, Ohio (AP) -- Manny the Hippie, who became a celebrity on ``The Late Show with David Letterman,'' said he plans to put his time in prison to good use by writing his life story.
Manny, whose real name is Micah Papp, was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months in prison -- minus four months for time already served -- for violating probation on a marijuana-trafficking conviction.
The 20-year-old San Francisco man surrendered to Ohio officials two weeks ago after returning from California. Ohio authorities had sought Papp after spotting him on the Letterman show. They said he violated the terms of his probation by leaving Ohio.
In an interview at the Greene County Jail, Papp told the Xenia Daily Gazette he plans to write his autobiography.
``I've had a really, really amazing life,'' he told the newspaper.
Papp has appeared frequently on the television program, often doing movie reviews. He once took Letterman on a tour of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district and exposed him to street lingo such as ``schwag'' (bad), ``dank'' (good) and ``diggity dank'' (quite good).
Papp also said he is not interested in receiving shock probation, in which he could be released after serving 30 days, because then he would have to continue to deal with court orders.
``Why spend five years dealing with the system when I'll be done in a few months?'' he said.
Papp said he plans to move to California once he is released from jail.
